One of the great things about the United States is that it offers free education for all of its children - and even for its adults who haven't been fortunate enough to complete their high school diploma while they were young. This gives everyone the start they need to go on to become Brampton dentists or otherwise productive members of society. Kindergarten to Grade 12 schooling in Akron is managed by Akron Public Schools. Here are some of the special programs they offer to students:

Community Learning

Learning isn't just for kids or GED candidates. It's for everyone, even those undergoing anxiety treatment in Hamilton who are on vacation in Akron. Thanks to a massive remodeling project, every school will have the capacity to host night and weekend community programs. Seventeen are finished now, the rest will follow by 2015.

College Credit

For those eager beavers looking to get a jump on their university education, Akron schools offer students the opportunity to take combined high school/associate degree programs and save $30,000 or graduate with 24 credit hours at the University of Akron and save $9,000. Firestone High also offers the International Baccalaureate program, which leaves students with internationally recognized college credit.

Career Training

For those who know they want to work with their hands, perhaps operating a case erector or running a restaurant, there are 30 combined high school/skilled trades training programs available to help students enter the workforce and get great jobs.

Arts

Some students are naturally gifted sculptors who need a little help operating woodworking machinery while others just need time to pursue their craft. Miller High School and Firestone High's Visual and Performing Arts programs give them that chance. They can exhibit their work, perform at concerts and plays, and receive a leg up into post secondary study.

Science

For sharp students who are sure to go on to invent a totally green day spa in Vancouver or the next space shuttle, there's an innovative middle school attached to the National Inventor's Hall of Fame. Here they train in science business, and university prep.

JROTC

Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps programs held at four different local high schools are designed to give students planning on entering one of the four branches of the military a leg up into the echelons of the officers corps. Army is at Kenmore High, Air Force at Buchtel High, Navy at Garfield High and Marine Corps at East High.
